Who am I?
Hello all, my name is Jukka Heino and I’m from Finland. Being born in -81, I have had work career for over 20 year. Mainly I have been working in interior design/ Architecture field(as a designer, manager and project leader) and other designing operations. I also have worked as a carpenter(I had my own furniture collection back in the days), photographer, sales manager, keynote speaker and I have had also a company where I designed carpets which were made by hand in Egypt.
I´m a person who gets easily exited of everything, loves adventure and want to experience as much as possible. Maybe thats why I have had many passions in sports, musics and arts. I have done marshall arts, skiing played rugby, sailed a lot, painted pictures, photographed life and bikes being my biggest thing to be into, my garage is packed with different bikes… DH bikes, road bikes, BMX, dirt bikes and fixed gears.
Been travelling the world doing very interesting projects and adventures, and meeting awesome people. But during covids second year, I felt that I need to take a light exit from work life and just live my life without timetables. Travel the world, spend time with loved ones, getting inspired and have time to think what I want to do rest of my life. And from there we can move on to the next chapter:
On my travels and down time, I´ve always loved gear(especially bags of all sort… since I have been little boy), so I wanted to make a simple burrito bag to one of my bikes. I went to thrift store and bought VERY old, used hiking backpack and tore it apart. Then I started figuring out how sewing machine works. After crueling first days of sewing and ripping seams, i started to get some sort of a hang of it and my love for designing things kept me going.. and suprisingly fast I started to love sewing.
Quite quickly I realized that I want to make really sturdy bags, that meant my little portable sewing machine couldn’t handle it anymore. So I bought a really hardcore industrial machine and things escalated from there so much that I couldn’t keep making gear on our dining table… So I build my own sewing studio to our basement. Now I have amazing sewing studio in Helsinki, where I have four machines and enough space to work with different materials.
It have been amazing journey so far and I am really grateful to all you lovely customers who have been buying bags from me from the very start!
I have always loved sports and adventures + gear that goes along it, and on the other hand, I love design, aesthetics, visually nice stuff and bespoke culture.
So Dead Donkey Bags combines those and I can design stuff for every occasion in life. From adventures in nature to looking stylish in urban surroundings… from beaches to mountains. These bags will go everywhere your adventures may go… Experience as much as you can and do the things that make you happy!

All bags are handmade and designed in Finland. DDB studio is located in Helsinki.

These materials are super durable and has nice sturdy feel to it. Hardware is mainly YKK.

Models might come and go, new models might appear. You never know… So be on a lookout for new stuff.
At the moment I am doing only my current designs, but on custom orders you can request a certain colorway, material change or maybe some minor detail to add/ remove. I inform price and rough estimate of delivery time after I have received your wishes regarding the bag.
